RIDE DETAILS
Wednesday rides from Heather Farm are no-drop and separated into groups* determined by rolling speed. You select where you want to ride based on your comfort zone (see below). If you start out to fast simply wait for a slower group to pick you up. No rider will be left behind but your level of fitness should allow you to maintain the rolling speed for your group. There are frequent regroups on hilly routes to help everyone stay together.
All groups will ride the published route which will be between 35 and 55 miles in length. Routes by may include moderate grades.
* A Group: To determine if this Group is appropriate for you, imagine pedaling a flat 15-mile route and be able to maintain a rolling speed between 16 to 18 mph.
* B Group: To determine if this Group is appropriate for you, imagine pedaling a flat 15-mile route and be able to maintain a rolling speed between 14 to 16 mph.
* C Group: To determine if this Group is appropriate for you, imagine pedaling a flat 15-mile route and be able to maintain a rolling speed between 13 to 15 mph.
There is a coffee stop on all rides.
You must register online on the VSBC website or via the Wild Apricot app in order to participate in the ride. Please bring your own route sheet as I will not have any paper copies. You do not need to be a VSBC member in order to participate in this ride, but we ask that you become a member if you ride with us more than 3 times in a year.
Meet at Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek. Take I-680 to Ygnacio Valley Rd. exit and go east; turn left at San Carlos Dr. into Heather Farm Park; go 1/3 of a mile and park in the lot by the far ball fields on the right.
Arrive in time to be ready to ride at 9:00 a.m.
