History Nugget:

We will be riding by the Rheinstein Ranch on Highland Road.  The ranch’s history goes back to the 1850s, it continues to operate today.  In 1900 the Rheinstein Ranch won the highest honor at the Paris World Fair for their wheat.  Good farmers know that one of the best uses of wheat is to make grain whiskey!  Whiskey is still being made at the ranch.

Prior to being purchased by the Rheinsteins, Thomas Carneal owned some of the land in the area.  Carneal built the Highland School on Highland Road that we will ride by.
