Sunday Road Ride 9am AM

Dave Dalton from 6:15 cyclery is posting a ride for Sunday 2/09//2020.

(Steve has canceled due to high winds) VSBC Member Steve Whelan is hosting and riding at a moderate pace with the B1 group.

Meet in front of the Bagel Street Café in the same parking lot where the 6:15 store used to be. 3422 Camino Tassajara Rd. Danville

Arrive at 8:45 AM for some organizational issues before the ride.

There are some winds in the forecast for Sunday but, unlike last weekend, the weatherman says it will be later in the day. So here’s the plan and please take pictures

We’ll send the A1, A2, & B1 Groups to Niles Canyon & Palomares. That takes us down to SRV Blvd. the usual way through Greenbrook. We’ll then take SRV Blvd. / Foothill Rd. to the Sunol Train Station. We can regroup there, use the porta-pottys and refuel at the little grocery store across the street. From there we'll take Niles Canyon Rd., go up & over Palomares and regroup again at the bottom of the decent. We’ll turn right on Palo Verde and come up and over Dublin Canyon Rd., head back up Foothill Rd. / SRV Blvd. to Greenbrook to Camino Tassajara and home. That's around 53 miles and 2,800 feet of climbing.

Anyone interested in a little more climbing can do Norris Canyon Rd. by going left at the bottom of Palomares and heading into Castro Valley, then taking Crow Canyon Rd. to Norris Canyon and then back down to SRV Blvd. and home. It adds a few hundred more feet of climbing.

We'll send the B2 Group down to the Sunol Train Station and back. That means we'll follow the other groups down SRV Blvd. / Foothill Rd. to Sunol. After a rest stop there we'll turn around and head back via Pleasanton Sunol Rd. cut over to Castlewood Country Club over to Foothill / SRV Blvd, up to Alcosta, to Crow Canyon and then home. I'm calling 41 miles.

The C1 Group will do the Short Happy Valley Route. Like the other groups we'll head down SRV Blvd / Foothill Rd. and turn off at Castlewood Country Club, go right on Pleasanton Sunol Rd., then left on Happy Valley Rd.  After snaking through Happy Valley and Sycamore we'll turn right on Sunol Blvd. / 1st which takes us into downtown Pleasanton. On the corner of 1st and Neal there is a park with bathrooms which is a perfect spot for a quick rest stop. We'll make our way through Danville by going straight on Neal (which turns into Rose), right on Pleasanton Ave. left on Division St. then to Hopyard and Dougherty Rds. and then home. Strava mapped it at 35 miles

For our C2 Beginners Group I want you to come out but I can't guarantee there will be other riders or a ride leader. So sorry. Arrive and decide; or goal is 15 - 20 miles.
