Mark your calendar for the 2018 Mount Diablo Challenge to be held Sunday October 7th. This year’s event will again cater to competitive and recreational cyclists. Competitive men and women riders will ascend the mountain first, without lane restrictions, and race for the title of “King” and “Queen” of the Mountain. Recreational riders are encouraged to set their personal best and enjoy the beautiful views from Mount Diablo’s south side. Since maximum effort should be rewarded, a collection of great prizes awaits top finishers. A selection of other prizes and goodies will be awarded to winners in 16 different age categories. The youngest and oldest rider, to complete the course, will also be recognized.
A new “Team Challenge” has been add to this year’s event. Now, after you register as an individual Road Bike participant you can also create a team, where you and a minimum of 4 of your friends can compete against other teams for the best combined time up the mountain. You make a team during your registration under the 'Event Questions' by creating a team name and indicating whether it is an all-Male, an all-Female or Coed team. Then tell your friends to look for and join your Team when they are registering. You can have as many members as you like on your Team but only the top 4 finisher’s* time will be used to determine the “combined time” for your Team up the mountain.
Oak Hill Park in Danville will again host this year’s entertainment venue and vendor expo. After the ride participants and their families are invited to enjoy music, beer, wine and a variety of cuisines available in our food truck area. Turnaround time at the top of the mountain will be quick so that riders can enjoy the party. If you are a competitive rider, or just a weekender that wants to challenge yourself, this is the ride for you!
