68.4 miles, 4473 ft of climbing, rating 3.5/M, 10:00 a.m.  Advanced ride.

This will be a scenic ride starting at Balboa Park in San Francisco.  We will meet and start from the Balboa Park tennis court and playground area.  There are public restrooms at the playground area.  We will ride out to the great highway and along the coast to the Golden Gate Bridge.  Cross the bridge to Marin and climb the Marin Headlands and continue on to Sausalito and Tiburon.  Rest stops along the way at mile 25 (Mike’s bike location as well as a café and deli), and at mile 41 (Boardwalk market).   We will then continue onward to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and back to Balboa Park.  There is the Roxie Food Center at the NW corner of the Park for food and drink before making it back to BART and heading to Pleasanton.   It will be a lot cooler on the Coast than here in the Tri-Valley.

Start location is accessible by BART Leaving from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station at 8am normally scheduled to arrive at 9 am at Balboa Park Station.  Balboa Park is about two blocks from the station.  10:00 am start time is based on the BART schedule, first train leaves Dublin/Pleasanton at 8am.  So happens that there is construction activity planned at the Balboa Park Station on 7/16/2017 which requires transferring to the green line at the 24thstreet station.  Hence the 10 am start time to allow use of BART.  Driving option is about 45 miles from Pleasanton to Balboa Park.  Map directions say about 1 hour 4 minutes to drive it at that time of day.  Parking is on streets around the park.  Take the Bay Bridge I-80 toward SF.  Exit 1A to merge onto US 101 S toward San Jose, exit 431 to merge onto I-280 S toward Daly City, exit 51 onto Geneva Ave, Ocean Ave.  Balboa Park is at intersection of Ocean and San Jose.  Look for parking.

NOTE:  There will be at least one vehicle there (mine) if you need to store some extra clothing while on the ride.  I can also transport a couple of riders if desired.  Please call and let me know.
