4M 44 miles.  11:00 AM

Stage3 of Tour of California starts at 10:45, heads toward Livermore via Calaveras Rd and Pigeon Pass. Then it goes up Mines through the San Antonio Valley, and up the east side of Mt. Hamilton. We'll leave from the same start line at 11:00 heading up the west side to meet them near the summit.  We'll find a spot on the east side within a mile or so of the top, to watch the race. They have to ride 75 miles to get to that part of the course. We will have to ride approx 22 miles. It will take them approx 3.5 hours. Our ride will take about 2.5 hours. So we'll get there a little early and enjoy the scenery and remoteness of the mountain and circus atmosphere that accompanies every mountain stage in every bike race around the world.

There will probably be more than 1,000 other cyclists going up the mountain that day. Maybe not as many as Diablo has had the last 2 years, but very many.

The Berryessa Community Center is located at 3050 Berryessa Road, (north) San Jose, near Piedmont Road, one block from Sierra Road.

The Parking information will be provided.
