Using the VS Ride Calendar

Instructions For Adding, Editing and Deleting an Event

This page provides the instructions you need to add, edit or delete an event from the online ride calendar. Select the link below that best describes what you want to do:

Add a new event to the calendar

  1. Scroll down and look at the lower-left of the calendar page. You will see a line of text that reads: Current User:Public Access (Login). Note: If it says Ride Leader (Logout) instead of Public Access (Login), this means that you are automatically logged in and can skip to step 3. If it says Public Access (Login), click on the (Login) link.
  2. Enter the username and password. If you do not know the username and password, please send an e-mail to Curtis for that information, then come back here.
  3. If you need to move to a future month, you can click on the name of the next month at the upper-right corner of the calendar page. When you need to move back to a previous month, you can click on the name of the previous month at the upper-left corner of the page. Alternatively, to access a previous or future month, you can select a different month near the lower-left corner of the calendar page where you see the Month: drop-down box.
  4. When you are viewing the appropriate month, click on the small plus sign at the upper-right corner of the date for which you want to add your event. The Add Entry page opens.
  5. In the Brief Description text field, add the few basic words that describe your event. If you are adding a ride, you should include your name because you are the ride leader. Example: "Benicia and Beyond - Woody Hayes"
  6. In the Full Description text field, add all the text you need to fully describe your event, similar to the ride descriptions you currently see in the newsletter. Example:
Benicia and Beyond. 3-L/M 40 miles (65km) 10:00 a.m. Join Woody for a Christmas ride in Solano County with an optional loop. Meet at Matthew Turner Park on 12th Street. Take I-780 to Benicia; exit W Military; R at stop sign. Continue on West K Street to 12th; turn right. Bring water and Lunch. Leader: Woody Hayes, 925.462.8382
  7. Press the Save button just below and to the left to save your work. The calendar saves your information and returns you to the month view.

You are done! When visitors view the calendar, they can roll their cursor over your Brief Description text to view the Full Description in a popup balloon. Try it now to see how it works. If you need to edit your description, see the directions for editing an event on this page. When you are satisfied with your entry, please click the Logout link near the lower-left corner of the page. You will be logged out and automatically returned to the login page, where you can click the Access public calendar link near the lower-left side of the page to view the calendar again. You will not be able to make any changes because you now are logged out. You may press the Login link again (and you might be asked for the username and password) if you want to add or edit more entries.
